Ted Vasin
Ted Vasin, a San Francisco-based artist, explores the psychological spectrum and its potential for expansion and transcendence through painting and sound. His work presents a collision of hyper-realism and technological abstractions, creating an intersection where the self and the physical world interact.
Vasin's art is characterized by vulnerability and viscerality, often employing the grotesque to capture moments and connect them with the mind. Familiar imagery, including toilets, phalli, and insects, is rendered with the reverence of a 17th-century Dutch still life painter. This familiar subject matter provides a point of entry into Vasin's work, inviting viewers to participate in the shared sensory perception of human experience.
While his artworks foster connections, they also present a visual anthology of computer-generated forms derived from the artist's imagination. Born and educated in Moscow, Vasin has exhibited internationally and stateside for nearly two decades.
