Allan Williams
Born Wrexham, N. Wales 1955.Currently living in Suffolk and working in N. London.I am an accomplished and versatile artist with over 30 years experience. I have exhibited widely in the UK and Canada, and have been a finalist for three consecutive years in the Singer Friedlander/Sunday Times Watercolour Competition. My artwork is a unique mixture of observation, interpretation and invention, and combines traditional painting techniques with modern digital technology. I produce work in acrylic or oils on canvas, photomontages and computer generated digital images. My pictures are rich in detail and sometimes feature trompe l'oeil (illusionistic) effects. The images I create go beyond representation, so that the ordinary can become extraordinary whilst the impossible can seem strangely familiar. The 'Mani' series was inspired by the landscape, ancient buildings and history of the Peloponnese. My most recent paintings have been iof the eroding coastline of Suffolk. I also undertake commissions. I meticulously reproduce the style and techniques of artists from old masters such as Abrecht Durer to modern artists like Roy Lichtenstein so that clients can have a unique portrait painted in the style of their favourite artist. I also paint portraits of people's houses(see my website www.allanwilliams.net for further details) Many of my paintings are available as limited edition gicle printswww.allanwilliams.net
