Alessandro Rolandi
Alessandro Rolandi, born in Pavia on April 18, 1971, studied Chemistry, Experimental Theatre and Film-making, and History of Art. He has resided and worked in Beijing since 2003 as a multimedia and performance artist, director, curator, researcher, writer, and lecturer.
Rolandi's work emphasizes social intervention and relational dynamics, aiming to transcend the boundaries of established art practices, spaces, and hierarchies. He seeks to directly engage with reality through diverse approaches. In 2011, he founded and directs the Social Sensibility Research & Development Department at Bernard Controls Beijing. He also established the department in Paris in 2014.
Rolandi has contributed to publications such as Randian, Hyperallergic, Asyalist, Chinafiles, Made in China, and Menelique. Additionally, he served as chief coordinator for the 2014 Transnational Dialogues study-caravan in Beijing.
